The killing of George Floyd by police officers —who have been charged with murder—has, once again, brought to the forefront feelings of anger, horror and disgust at the systemic racism and institutional injustice that exists on the local, state, and national levels in our country. Change should begin now, and it must start with us. We believe our silence and inaction makes us complicit.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community and all people of color, and encourage our legal and business communities to join us in taking action to combat racism and effect real and positive change. For many, like us, those efforts include raising our awareness of racial injustice and inequality. We are committed to doing so and support organizations who make that their mission, like the Eugene Springfield NAACP.
