Craig retired on December 31, 2017, after 43 years of practice with the firm. He began his legal career as a judicial clerk for the Oregon Supreme Court in 1972.
At Hershner Hunter, Craig built his practice around representation of a wide array of healthcare providers, particularly hospital-based physician groups and large multi-specialty groups. The start of Craig’s practice coincided with the enactment of ERISA, and he has focused in that area as well, representing a broad range of qualified retirement plan sponsors. He has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 1991 in both areas.
Craig has been actively engaged in the community. In fact, he was awarded a “Turtle Award” by the City Club of Eugene for his exemplary community service. His service on the Eugene School Board has had a powerful ripple effect at home, as both of his daughters have forged successful careers in public education. Craig enjoys travel, golf, and reading, particularly histories. Combining these interests, he has traveled several times to visit Civil War battlefields.
