Bill grew up in Virginia and moved to Oregon in 1968 to attend Willamette University. After a short career in journalism, he graduated from the Northwestern School of Law in 1985 and immediately joined Hershner Hunter. He became a partner in 1990.
Bill is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and in Oregon Super Lawyers, a publication of Law & Politics.
Bill serves on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Estate Planning and Administration Section. He regularly writes for publications designed to educate other lawyers on estate planning, probate, and trust administration issues, and is a frequent speaker on estate and asset protection planning. He is a member and past president of the Eugene Estate Planning Council, and is active in the Eugene-Springfield Tax Association.
Bill’s wife, DeeAnn Hall, is a chef and the owner of the Eugene City Bakery. They like to spend their free time gardening, cross country skiing and attending blues concerts. They have two children, Zack, a graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts, and Tory, a graduate of Skidmore College in New York.
