Bill grew up in Virginia and moved to Oregon in 1968 to attend Willamette University. After a short career in journalism, he graduated from the Northwestern School of Law in 1985 and joined Hershner Hunter.

Bill is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Estate Planning and Administration Section. Bill regularly writes for publications designed to educate other lawyers on estate planning, probate, and trust administration issues, and is a frequent speaker on estate and asset protection planning. He is a member and past president of the Eugene Estate Planning Council, and is active in the Eugene-Springfield Tax Association.

Bill’s wife, DeeAnn Hall, is a chef. They like to spend their free time gardening and cross country skiing. They have two children, Zack and Tory.
